github.com/pkg/errors is an archived repo see https://github.com/pkg/errors#roadmap

Some of our direct deps are still using it:

• promu

The openshift promu clone still uses github.com/pkg/errors.

Upstream fixed this in https://github.com/prometheus/promu/commit/9ed1fd6105202afb979cf56c70b424e16e461e79, but this change has not been released yet.

• thanos

Thanos also is still using "github.com/pkg/errors" to be able to get stacktraces:
