      Goals

Productize Observatorium to start building and shipping it through official channels and to make it consumable via OperatorHub. That way, other Red Hat product like ACM have a more official deployment model to consume it.

      Non-Goals

      • This is not a Generally Available version. We only start to distribute it so that we can work with different companies and validate our approach, and have a more common deployment model for other Red Hat products that depend on it (e.g. Advanced Cluster Monitoring).

      Motivation

      • ACM wants to consume Observatorium through the dependency mechanism available on OLM and not bundle it into their deployment directly.
      • Engineering team spends time to consult individual people on how someone should run Thanos at scale.
      • We still have not yet received much feedback from a larger audience except from our uses cases with Telemetry.
