Epic Goal

• Clarify offering for storing metrics for longer retention.
• Implement POC for Long retention metrics for MST tenants.

Why is this important?

• Tenants want to store metrics for longer if not unlimited time e.g for SLA purposes.
• Tenants wants to save all the metrics for long or unlimited time for retrospective purposes.

Scenarios

1. MST user wants to see their long term SLI and alert on their SLO violations for months old metrics.
2. MST wants to control the retention of hot storage, ideally per metric.
3. MST wants to control the retention of cold storage, ideally per metric (maybe we don't need cold storage, then we don't need this)
4. Must be able to access old metrics from cold storage
5. Nice to have: We store all metrics and allow dynamic retention for reading?

Acceptance Criteria

• Design for long-term storage offering with gather and confirm further requirements with stakeholders (MST).
• PoC is implemented and deployed to staging.
