Use a custom Infinispan configuration and reference it from your repository configuration. The default in-memory cache configuration is just that – a default. And because it's in-memory, it isn't going to be too useful in production.

The default configuration for Infinispan that is applied if no configuration is supplied by the user does not use PESSIMISTIC locking. The workaround is to define an Infinispan configuration (whether or not it persists content using a cache store) that does use PESSIMISTIC locking.
