As a crane user, after I perform an operation (ie. export|transform|apply), I would like to methods I can use to inspect + verify + validate results or investigate failures.

It may not be appropriate for the crane command line tool to support, but we can tell users about tree, jq, yq and any other tools that may help the user see the resources and verify results.
