With this update, the LokiStack administrator has access to an official Loki dashboard to inspect the storage performance and the health of each component.
-
Feature
Goals
- Provide an overview about LokiStack Writes performance and health.
- Provide an overview about LokiStack Reads performance and health.
- Provide an overview about LokiStack Compaction and Retention performance and health.
- Provide an overview about LokiStack Chunks utilization.
Non-Goals
- General purpose LokiStack operational dashboards
- Dashboards on Lokistack dependencies.
Motivation
Traditionally the OpenShift Logging product provides essential dashboards for OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) administrators to inspect the performance of each component (collection, storage, retention). The introduction of Loki as a replacement storage solution for Elasticsearch is missing any visual companion (i.e. dashboards) to inspect storage performance and health. Therefore this EPIC is dedicated in introducing a set of dashboards that make Loki's performance and health visually tangible.
Alternatives
- Upstream manifests, instructions and documentaion on how to install the official Loki dashboards on Grafana.
Acceptance Criteria
- Provide dedicated dashboards per path to visualize the individual task at hand separately (ingestion, queries, compaction/retention).
- Provide visibility about the stored chunks to inform about storage utilization.
