This is a feature for Infinispan, but the JIRA is created in JGRP for convenience.

The reasons for rejection are also in the same document. I created this JIRA because I spent quite some time on this feature, only to realize that we'll never get the same performance as without it, and thus hope folks will not go through the same mistakes and waste their time...
