      It is save to ignore the NullPointer (http error, maybe 500 internal server error) and repeat the '/metrics'  as it will work fine.

    Description

      The first fix didn't take into account that the Netty transport may not be registered when JGroups deliveres the request to count the connections.

      It can happen because JGroups starts way sooner than Netty transport.
