I made an error while designing a process in jbpm 3.2.8 and the root token walks directly into a join node where it starves and the process instance never ends therefore. My fault (i supposed the join node can handle it), but is it generally a bad idea, if the join node doesn`t end the incoming ROOT token but just connects it through to the next node (i.e. "end") if there are no children (for instance there was no fork node before)? Source attached.
