This feature request would be to add a new workitem on the Eclipse palette.
Similar to the "script task" we should have a workitem where we could configure a web service invocation. This workitem would need a input field where we could identify the URL to the WSDL file.
After reading the WSDL file there should be another field where we could specify a method to be executed, from all the methods in the WSDL.

After this, for every web service call there could be a screen where the user could do a data mapping between the process variables and the inputs of the webservice. Also this could be re-used to process the outputs from the webservice into the process data.
