AbstractMarshaller and AbstractUnmarshaller should be extracted into a pair of base SimpleDataInput/Output classes which extend InputStream/OutputStream and implement (Byte|Data)(Input|Output). Introduce an intermediate AbstractObjectInput/ObjectOutput.
