Remove the module tags for the jars from the EAR project's application.xml. Do not remove the module tags for the associated web / ejb projects. Then close / reopen the project. You may also have to unpublish / republish the ear project initially.

Something weird is happing with jboss-seam.jar in ear packaging. See the forum for details.

Apparently fixing application.xml apparently fixes it but why?
