      The customer has reproduced this issue during each dnf update on RHEL 9. However, the RPM installation automatically installs the latest EAP revision. We need to wait for the next EAP update to recreate this issue. Thus, I have followed the following approach to reproduce this issue.

      • Please install JBoss EAP 8 using the RPM method.
      • Please replace the stock favicon.ico located at /opt/rh/eap8/root/usr/share/wildfly/welcome-content/ with a custom favicon.ico
      • {{The eap8-wildfly-8.0.5-5.GA_redhat_00004.1.el9eap.noarch package contains the stock favicon.ico. }}
      • Please update (downgrade) the{{eap8-wildfly-8.0.5-5.GA_redhat_00004.1.el9eap.noarch package with an older RPM library. }}
      • Please download and install the eap8-wildfly-8.0.0-35.GA_redhat_00011.1.el9eap.noarch.rpm library using dnf:
        • sudo dnf localinstall eap8-wildfly-8.0.0-35.GA_redhat_00011.1.el9eap.noarch.rpm
      • Now, if you check the custom favicon.ico located at /opt/rh/eap8/root/usr/share/wildfly/welcome-content/, this icon has been changed during the update process.
      • Please change the stock file(favicon.ico) located at /opt/rh/eap8/root/usr/share/wildfly/welcome-content/ with a custom favicon.ico
      • Please perform a dnf update to update the RHEL 9 system. The DNF update mechanism will update the EAP 8 release with the latest libraries
      • Please check the custom favicon.ico located at /opt/rh/eap8/root/usr/share/wildfly/welcome-content/
      • The custom icon has been changed again.

      JBoss EAP 8 overrides custom favicon.ico (located at /opt/rh/eap8/root/usr/share/wildfly/welcome-content/favicon.ico) during RPM updates.

      This issue does not occur should you update using JBoss CLI or Installation Manager.
