The PC (Process Controller) is in charge of capture the HC (Host Controller) and Managed Server standard output and error streams. However, those streams are not currently being redirected to a log file. If any of the processes launched by the PC is unable to start, for example, misconfiguration of the JVM, then those errors are never captured in a log file, which makes it difficult to trace them.
The intention of this enhancement is not to redirect both the standard and error streams since that will affect the PC standard error format and we want to minimize the changes done in this critical area.
The change proposed is just to redirect the stderr. This prediction will allow to capture of any error thrown by the process JVM and will minimize the output changes since as soon as the HC/Managed Server process has installed the jboss-stdio streams, the HC/Managed Server process is redirected to the HC/Managed Server stdout stream.
We would also like to add a property as a fallback mechanism so that if there are any customers dealing with the stderr, they would be able to back to the old behaviour.
