After https://issues.redhat.com/browse/CLOUD-3890 OPENSHIFT_DNS_PING_SERVICE_NAME become required. As a followup we should remove this sentence from documentation [1] to be valid

 
If not set, the server will act as if it is a single-node cluster (a "cluster of one").
