Install Hercules 3.07, Debian 8 (Jessie), and upgrade Jessie to Stitch (9) to get openjdk 8 as required by WildFly (Stitch will not install directly under Hercules due to an unrelated bug). Create a wildfly user and install WildFly. Try to start WildFly using standalone-full.

I will attach a document that describes the steps to create the environment in detail. The process is complex, and I sincerely hope the stdout gives you what you need.

We are trying to do a z/Linux POC of a product which uses JBoss/WildFly. When we attempt to start WildFly under z/Linux running under the Hercules z emulator, we get consistent java.util.concurrent.TimeoutExceptions and the server fails to initialize.

Doing some Googling gets a lot of hits with recommendations to increase the timeout value, but since the first exception mentions a 300-second timeout, I really doubt that something is really taking more than 5 minutes to execute, even in this environment. I did find one hit that suggested that the problem results in a deadly-embrace condition in unusual environments.

The WildFly 14 install was copied via rsync from a native Mageia system where it works perfectly.

Our customer also tried this with a different Linux version (RHEL as above) and WildFly 12, and got the same results.

I'll attach the stdout which contains the stacktraces and a thread dump.
