No need to run ktab to create a keytab file

    XMLWordPrintable

Description

The docs for 7.0 and 7.1 said you need to run the ktab command after ktpass to create a keytab file. But, actually the standard ktpass command itself can create a keytab file, and additionally to say, you need to install JDK on Windows KDC, since the ktab is not included in the OS but included in JDK. And what was worse, a keytab file created with the manner does not work.

The KCS34083 describes the simple and straight way to create a keytab file running only ktpass. No need to run ktab. The official docs should be rewritten referring the KCS.
