JBoss Dev Studio 4.0 crash

      Decision has been made by @RRuss and others to remove Mylyn from JBDS Extras for 4.x. Users who need/want Mylyn w/ JBDS can do one of the following:

      a) use JBoss Tools 3.2 on Eclipse 3.6.2 w/ Mylyn 3.6 instead of JBDS 4.1 because it appears this crash doesn't happen w/ pure Eclipse, only the JBDS product. Note that this is an unsupported (or community-supported) solution.

      b) not use Windows 7 64-bit - use pure 32-bit Windows. Supported use.

      c) In a separate partition or virtual machine, run JBDS with Linux or OSX. Supported use.

    • Must document the workarounds and hack required to fix Win7_64 JBDS4.1.1 should you accidentally install Mylyn in there (remove the offending o.e.mylyn.tasks.ui_*.jar to disable it and prevent the crash).

      I had installed the 4.0GA version of Jboss Dev Studio, created a sample project. Later I restarted the Studio after attempting to install a few plugins (I believe Subclipse).

      Every time afterwards, it would launch the studio , the UI would launch with code windows, and then the studio would crash to desktop in less than a second afterwards.

      I do have dump eclipse files that can be attached to this issues.

      Note: I am able to open the same workspace without any issues using the STS eclipse IDE.
