      commons-logging 1.0.5.GA-jboss broke log4j %C pattern format because the org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Log4jProxy introduced was not using the original org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Log4JLogger as its FQCN. The call FQCN is used by the org.apache.log4j.spi.LocationInfo which is used to obtain the caller classname.
