We have an optimized UDP configuration that we have tested extensively both at a customer site and internally. It is largely identical to the config used in the JBento testing as well, so it has been tested there. We should use this as the default config for 4.0.4.CR2.
There are two primary factors that make this a more performant and stable config for high load environments:
1) All up and down threads have been removed. This not only improves performance due to less context switching, but also improves stability by eliminating the possibility of messages accumulating in internal queues, leading to OOM conditions under extreme high load.
2) Increases buffer sizes in the UDP protocol, max_bytes in STABLE and max_credits in FC to figures more appropriate for high load environments.
