I believ that parts of Hibernate depend on commons-collections and ehcache.jar. Neither of these are in the server/default/lib directory of an out the box 4.0.4 installation.

If I'm correct (and I observe the right to be wrong), then please add them to the full install. Also, can you version tag the JARs when they go in, as its easier to know what version of things you are working with in that situation.
