The behaviour introduced in ~~ISPN-13512~~ causes

SpringEmbeddedCacheManagerFactoryBeanTest.testIfSpringEmbeddedCacheManagerFactoryBeanAllowesOverridingGlobalConfiguration failures

We should merge stacks on read() instead of trashing them.
