User Stories:
As a Fedora user of X11 based desktop environment, I want to be able to control keyboard layouts during Live ISO installation, so that I can type my passwords in the correct keyboard layout.
Description:
With the Wayland migration epic we are switching to keyboard layout control from libxklavier / Gnome Shell DBus API to systemd-localed DBus API. However, it means that all the Fedora systems have to listen on the systemd-localed and reflect configuration from there to the running system. This is specific for a spins on Fedora which are mainly distributed as Live ISO.
For Wayland based systems the system owners on Fedora are responsible to resolve this development. The keyboard handling wasn't working on these even before our change and we are going to enable it now.
However, X11 based systems worked before just fine and now these will be broken because there is missing tool to sync systemd-localed configuration to X11. This could be handled by one script for all the systems and that is part of this issue.
This issue is not as such priority as Wayland migration the spin owners were notified ahead of time with information what are the requirements so they have time to react.
Acceptance criteria:
- Make sure that we have a packaged script which is able to change X11 system configuration based on the systemd-localed.
- The script is packaged into Fedora.
- The script is used on the fedora-kickstart on the given medias with use of livesys-scripts.
