Goal
- To enable changes to AWS EC2 API changes that do not restart/re-create Instances.
Why is this important?
- Customers can change Cloud Instance attributes such as Security Groups or Tags which are for network firewall or governance respectively without restarting VMs/Instances. While Hosted Cluster's Node Pool treats nodes as immutable, these AWSPlatformSpec fields are not possible today for in-place mutation.
- In the absence of in-place mutation, customers are required to either replace nodes one at a time in a nodepool or entirely recreate a new nodepool.
