Currently, MachinePool adoption is technically supported by Hive, but the process is relatively cumbersome and requires multiple manual steps.

The current adoption process requires:

• Identify existing MachineSets that should be managed by Hive
• Label each MachineSet with hive.openshift.io/machine-pool=<pool-name>
• Ensure failure domain/zones match between existing MachineSets and MachinePool configuration
• Create corresponding MachinePool(s) in the Hive hub cluster
• For distinct configurations, create separate MachinePools
