Currently, MachinePool adoption is technically supported by Hive, but the process is relatively cumbersome and requires multiple manual steps.
The current adoption process requires:
- Identify existing MachineSets that should be managed by Hive
- Label each MachineSet with hive.openshift.io/machine-pool=<pool-name>
- Ensure failure domain/zones match between existing MachineSets and MachinePool configuration
- Create corresponding MachinePool(s) in the Hive hub cluster
- For distinct configurations, create separate MachinePools
