The overview in this section is one line and not very informative. Elia suggests replacing it with something like the following (from chatbot)

3.1.1.2. Logical Volume Manager Storage Operator

The Logical Volume Manager (LVM) Storage Operator enables dynamic provisioning of local block storage using LVM on each host. It aggregates non-boot devices into LVM volume groups and exposes them as persistent volumes through standard Kubernetes PV/PVC interfaces.

You can perform the following actions using the LVM Storage Operator:

      • Dynamically provision persistent volumes backed by LVM logical volumes.
      • Automatically manage volume groups and storage pools across cluster nodes.
      • Optimize storage usage on resource-limited or edge environments by consuming additional local block devices.
      • Provide high-performance local storage for workloads that require consistent low latency.

Selecting the Virtualization Operator, either independently or as part of the Virtualization bundle, automatically activates the LVM Storage Operator when compatible hardware is detected.

      Prerequisites

      • Requires at least one non-boot drive per host.
      • Requires approximately 100 MiB of additional RAM.
      • Requires one additional CPU core per non-boot drive.

      Additional resources

      • Configuring persistent storage
      • Managing LVM Storage
