Discover EAP on VMs, that is without agent, instrument it and add it to inventory.
Other question: we have a requirement to do discover EAP on vms or baremetal managed by MiQ. Those can obviously span multiple providers / mgmt endpoints
is there a „blueprint“ on selecting what (managed resources) to operate on? Like a picker or such
Jason Frey @Fryguy 14:44 You mean like in the UI? To set it manually or something?
Heiko W. Rupp @pilhuhn 14:44 yes. like selecting VMs on in VMware
Jason Frey @Fryguy 14:45 Nothing prebuilt like that that I'm aware of But if you are discovering, I'm not sure why you'd need a picker
Heiko W. Rupp @pilhuhn 14:46 Well. If the customer has 30k vms, under management, but only a subset could run EAP, then we don’t want to scan all 30k Labels could be a solution, but there is no guarantee customers have set them correctly
Jason Frey @Fryguy 14:48 They are probably being scanned anyway though by smart state You could just use the smart state data directly, which is just a db query Cool... Yeah, I would say overall that for discovery you probably should rely on smart state... That has the responsibility of scanning machines for files and packages, so best to rely it like a service
I believe it also emits an event when it's complete that you could use as well
