      Description of problem:

      Investigate the upstream issue https://github.com/argoproj/argo-cd/issues/16216 and see if there is a workaround.

      Acceptance criteria: 

      • Try to reproduce the bug
      • If there is no issue then check with the user and close the upstream issue
      • If the bug is reproducible, work on the fix and submit a PR for the same
      • Add unit/ e2e tests
      • The PR is merged
