I don't understand the purpose of it.

If the goal is as a first iteration to ignore the syndesis-maven-plugin, it needs to be done in the maven connector itself to have the benfits in Eclipse in general and not only in Fuse Tooling.

I don't understand why there is a filter on the maven-compiler-plugin, what is the link with the syndesis project?

In case there is a valid reason, I think it will be worthy to add a comment in the file to explain it.
