This epic tracks the recurring work done by the etcd team to maintain an upstream presence in the etcd community. This primarily entails participating in upstream community meetings, taking ownership of open issues and making contributions wherever possible.

An important aspect of this work is to stay up to date with ongoing design discussions, upcoming release milestones and open bugs that would impact the health of downstream etcd in openshift. This would entail cherry-picking upstream patches into the current release and rebasing the downstream release branches in openshift/etcd whenever a new release is tagged upstream.

This epic is specific to the openshift 4.15 development period.

A key target of this recurring epic will be to always keep the openshift/etcd Go version for all active openshift releases to a supported version of Go. We plan to do this by making sure upstream etcd is always on the latest or a supported version of Go first. See comments below for details.
