As mentioned in PR [#5259|https://github.com/strimzi/strimzi-kafka-operator/pull/5259,] it would be helpful to have diagrams explaining the different authentication flows for the OAuth 2.0 over PLAIN authentication mechanism. This is affected by the token.endpoint.uri option.
