Performance Improvements and Progress Indication for artemis data imp/exp tools

We have run into instances where we were attempting to export data from our AMQ broker using the data exp tool and the tool ran for hours before completion. There was no progress logged or otherwise indicated for the process. Could we check if there are any opportunities to improve the performance of the data imp/exp tool and also look into the addition of a progress indication (even if it is just a periodic indication of percent complete or xx of XXX journals processed to standard out)?
