In the Messaging thread, a couple of engineers have raised the question of why one should choose the Operator over application templates, or, were unaware that the Operator is our recommended deployment method.

The doc should include a short Overview of deployment methods section (or similar) that compares the two, highlights the advantages of the Operator, and makes this recommendation more explicit
