Large governed customers across the major vertical industries need control of product and library usage for security, licensing/cost, software strategy, and enterprise architecture governance reasons. The teams that manage this governance need the ability to down a specific product and version from the web, into a local firm-wide, or division-wide repository. Today FIS is consumed primarily as a set of libraries pulled from Red Hat and external maven repositories. All Red Hat products and versions are grouped in a single repository, preventing a governance team from pulling a specific version or only one product into their firm. The mvn dependency:tree command fails to pull the full dependency tree.
This RFE is to create or fix the ability to use a FIS product BOM and download the full dependency tree from Red Hat's and the external repositories, so they can be loaded into a firm's repository.
This will also help with other customers that don't allow any connection to the internet, which is common in the public sector.
