There are cases when we cannot recover from automatically from upgrade failures. Quoting hchirino@redhat.com:
Ideally if an upgrade goes bad, a user has a way to switch back to the previous version that worked. The would mean if you switch back to running the 7.4 operator instead of the 7.5 operator, the rollback would kick in and restore the data.
