Description of problem - Provide a detailed description of the issue encountered, including logs/command-output snippets and screenshots if the issue is observed in the UI:
When creating external IBM flash system there is no option for a 'Storage Class Name' in the menu like it was before 4.19, the created storage system gets automatically the name "ibm-flashsystem-storage-flash-storage". The problem begins when you try to add another external storage, because the secrets with the same name "ibm-flashsystem-storage-flash-storage" already exists.
The OCP platform infrastructure and deployment type (AWS, Bare Metal, VMware, etc. Please clarify if it is platform agnostic deployment), (IPI/UPI):
Bare Metal deployment
The ODF deployment type (Internal, External, Internal-Attached (LSO), Multicluster, DR, Provider, etc):
N/A
The version of all relevant components (OCP, ODF, RHCS, ACM whichever is applicable):
I tested it on OCP 4.21.0 and ODF 4.20.5
IBM ODF operator 1.9.0 (not GAed) and CSI 1.13
I am pretty sure the problem exists also in OCP 4.19
Does this issue impact your ability to continue to work with the product?
This appears to be a notable degradation in functionality, especially given that running multiple storage back‑ends on a single cluster is a common and widely adopted practice. Furthermore, once a storage system is successfully defined, the Create External System button remains enabled and continues to present the menu described above.
Is there any workaround available to the best of your knowledge?
No
Can this issue be reproduced? If so, please provide the hit rate
Yes, easily
Can this issue be reproduced from the UI?
Yes
If this is a regression, please provide more details to justify this:
Yes, it worked just fine in 4.18 and below.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just follow the instructions in https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_openshift_data_foundation/4.19/html/deploying_openshift_data_foundation_in_external_mode/deploy-openshift-data-foundation-using-ibm-flashsystem
2. Once one External Storage created, try to create another one.
The exact date and time when the issue was observed, including timezone details:
February 15 2026, UTC +2, 16:30
Actual results:
Error: " secrets with the same name "ibm-flashsystem-storage-flash-storage" already exists"
Expected results:
To be able to create as much storage systems as required.
Logs collected and log location:
N/A
Additional info:
It seems that option for SC name was removed in 4.19 and replaced by a hardcoded name.
