    Description

I wanted to capture a few observations on the ebook download UX (given that ebooks are being promoted fairly heavily).

(The download seemed to get hung up on me twice, no clues what was going on. Reloading the page cured that.)

      • The PDF isn't recognized by the desktop browser as a PDF so it doesn't open automatically. On desktop (Windows) you are just prompted to save the file. I don't know if the file is presenting as a generic mime type (octet stream) because of download manager requirements, but I think the UX would be improved if the PDF had the right mime type so the browser could do the right thing.
      • The download immediately fails with no error on iOS. Clicking the direct link works to open the PDF and then the right thing happens. This might be related to the above. (Maybe it's just me, but I think downloading the pdf for reading on a mobile device might not be an uncommon use case.)
      • The text on the download page needs to be improved, on desktop it says: "Thank you for downloading the: Microservices for Java devs". This seems a bit awkward. The iOS version is "Thank you for downloading the: Media:+Microservices+for+Java+devs". See screen shots.
