      In order to make your issue reports as actionable as possible, please provide the following information, depending on the issue type.

      Bug report

      For bug reports, provide this information, please:

      What Debezium connector do you use and what version?

      latest

      What is the connector configuration?

      Postgres connector

      What is the captured database version and mode of deployment?

      (E.g. on-premises, with a specific cloud provider, etc.)

      pg14

      What behavior do you expect?

      Correctly obtained data with column name  ''''

      What behavior do you see?

      datumMessage colName is \"\'\'\'\'\" , but match with \' .

      error occur in PostgresChangeRecordEmitter.java 114 and 116 columnValues(message.getOldTupleList().....)

      message.getOldTupleList() call PgProtoRplicationMessage.java 82 line, in transform() method has unquoted colName.

      columnName in columns was unquoted, but columnValues() unquoted twice. Causing column name to not match properly.

      in this way, "''''" -> '''' -> ' ,cause the error.

      By comparing the mr in DBZ-298, we can see the second unquoted was used for datumMessage, but not unquoted column.

      i suggest just unquoted once in PgProtoReplication.

      Do you see the same behaviour using the latest released Debezium version?

      (Ideally, also verify with latest Alpha/Beta/CR version)

      yes

      Do you have the connector logs, ideally from start till finish?

      (You might be asked later to provide DEBUG/TRACE level log)

      no

      How to reproduce the issue using our tutorial deployment?

      use columnname '''' to enable cdc
