I couldn't find a structured way (apart from looking at the logs generated by Debezium) to know that a snapshot that was requested has started and has finished executing. 
I believe this to be an acute shortage since apart of parsing Debezium's logs, there is no real way to demarcate the process - we ended up just polling the signal table for the demarcation records, which obviously is not an ideal solution.
