Currently connection to sharded clusters by default bypasses router and connects directly to each shard (replica_set mode).

This is discouraged by mongo and causes issues in several places (e.g. complicates redesign of multitask support)

For 2.5 we should switch the default and completely remove support replica_set mode in 2.6
