We learned we need RHEL 9 builders so we can build CS 10 images using image builder. However, Image Factory which we currenly use only needs RHEL 8 builders.
I'd like to eventually switch to Image Builder, but would like to build the images in parallel, allow people to do some testing, and only then plan the switchover. So that means we need both at the same time.
What we discussed and verified today is that:
- we upgrade one builder per arch to RHEL 9, remove it from the "default" channel, and create a new "image-builder" channel
- we put a Koji policy in place to send Image Builder builds to this new channel
That way the current builds still end up in the "image" channel, on a RHEL 8 builder. And Image Builder builds end up in the new "image-builder" channel, on a RHEL 9 builder.
