CRW 1.2.2 (as installed via OperatorHub) does not allow the user to access Plugins.

In a vanilla (default) installation, the user is given a message like this:
""Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://che-plugin-registry.openshift.io/plugins/' from origin 'http://codeready.xxxyyy.com' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: Redirect is not allowed for a preflight request."

A workaround was devised for previous support cases [1], but this fails now. If we adjust the CheCluster env ('CHE_WORKSPACE_PLUGIN_REGISTRY_URL'), then the user gets a different CORS error.

Screen shots attached for both vanilla installation and attempt to use workaround.
