We are currently failing to update cost model distribution costs because of the dates used for these tasks. The issue here is we likely dont have Cloud infra cost data for the OCP processing range. This means we dont have any costs to distribute on the running cost model update. Additionally the days that do have costs that could be distributed are missed because we only run the update on the matching date range for the data being processed.
Also during our OCP on Cloud processing/summary flow this does NOT trigger any OCP cost model updates. If this triggered and update it would likely correctly distribute the newly process Cloud data in the openshift tables.
Suggested fixes:
- Add a date override to the cost model update function. Ideally this cost model update function should always be calculating costs for the entire months data.
- Add an additional step in the ocp on cloud provider processing/summary steps to run cost model updates for any cluster that has a cost model attached. This will keep the costs more up to date and accurate overall.
