chambrid got the following email for AWS yesterday:
Starting March 20, 2023, AWS will add two new column attributes, 'bill/PayerAccountName' and 'lineItem/UsageAccountName', in the AWS Cost & Usage Report. The new columns will show up adjacent to the corresponding Account IDs. This allows you to directly access the 'Account Name' of the management and member accounts from CUR, and prevent any additional custom processing needed.
There is no additional configuration needed to deliver the two new 'Account Name' column attributes. All new and existing CURs will include the 'Account name' columns by default. Optionally, you can reach out to AWS Customer Service [1] to request a back fill of your historical CURs to include the new 'Account Name' columns.
Looks like we should be able to show the AWS Account Alias even if we don’t get the IAM role for this in the future (we would still need increase capabilities to support AWS OUs). This might be a nice improvement for future work that would take minimal updates to the code to achieve.
Would also mean a nise update as well.
