      Overview

Make the DNS integrations and features that are provided from DNSPolicy via Amazon Route 53, Google Cloud DNS & Azure DNS available for an on-premise customer that needs to use their own "edge" DNS provider via integration with a Core DNS running on their cluster(s).

      Goals - (user outcomes)

      • Users will not need to rely on cloud provider DNS services in order to use RHCL to manage their DNS
      • Users will be able to define GEO and Weighted strategies just as they do now
      • Users will be able to leverage health checks to indicate if an endpoint is considered healthy or not
      • Users will be able to set up DNS to work across multiple gateways and multiple clusters

      Time Line

      • Developer Preview: April 2025
      • Tech Preview: Oct 2025
      • GA: TBD (2026)

      Requirements

      • Use of a cloud DNS provider should not be needed
      • It must be possible to leverage the solution regardless of the "edge" DNS solution used
      • It must be possible to use this solution on a single cluster or  multi cluster deployment topology
      • Other than for initial installation and configuration, the user should be able to achieve everything they need via DNSPolicy and DNSProvider (IE it should "feel" like the other options)
