wildcard gateways are a way to create a single entry point for multiple applications. a global load balancer in front of these gateway should be able to manage the individual applications separately. This provides significant flexibility as it makes it possible for applications for failover independently.

it should be possible to express the desire to have individual application global record (i.e. at the httproute level).

When doing so it should still be possible to define health checks. These will be of course individual application health-checks.
