Install experience to deliver an in-place migration of

      a) ESXi to OCP-V and

      b) ESXi based virtual machines onto OCP-V with virtual machines running on OCP-V after the in-place migration has concluded.

End state that is a fully functional Virtualization environment with all virtual machines running on OCP-V. OCP-V and the virtual machines are running on the same hardware ESXi was running before the in-place migration started.

The installation/migration prepration and kick off needs start remotely, with all necessary installation artefacts downloaded and cached locally.

The requirement comes from edge deployments for example retail customers (1,000+ stores), that have no desire/budget for manual migration at the store, hardware refresh and are driven by reducing in-store hardware footprints while undertaking store modernisation programs

The request is about creating a general ability for the OCP installation to NOT require additional hardware/storage at edge locations  for the installation artefacts.
A potential solution workflow might look like this:
      1) Installer creates a protected partition on the VMWare environment to download (in low bandwidth environments) all OCP installation artefacts (isos/containers/etc)
      2) VMWare VMs are backuped (eg via Veeam)
      3) OCP installer kicks-off and recognises the protected partition with the OCP installation artefacts
      4) Installation completes
      5) VMs are restored onto OCP-V
