Refer to the product documentation for a description of balance-slb bond mode, which provides link aggregation without needing special switch support.

Proposed

Yes
Goal
Productize balance-slb as the recommended sane default bonding mode, to implement link aggregation without switch-side configuration. Balance-slb is now available for OVS and Linux bridges and their respective bondings.
User Stories
- As an OpenShift Virtualization administrator,
I want to configure link aggregation without a need to reconfigure network switches,
so my VM users get a resilient network without a need to reconfigure datacenter fabric.
Non-Requirements
- List of things not included in this epic, to alleviate any doubt raised during the grooming process.
Notes
- This is technically supported even today, but we don't do a great job advertising it and testing it end to end.
- See "balance-slb" in https://nmstate.io/devel/yaml_api.html
- See https://docs.openvswitch.org/en/stable/topics/bonding/
- https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html/advanced_networking/network-bonding-considerations describes how to configures this on day-1 for the default cluster network. However, in our tests we should focus on day-2 configuration over dedicated secondary NICs
