VIRTSTRAT-499 - OCP Virtualization self-certification package for Cloud providers
-
Goal
Let cloud providers do necessary verification of OpenShift Virtualization on their side, with minimal or no help from Red Hat, similar to OCP certification process. OpenShift Virtualization should provide instructions/requirements/automatic means of running tests that would verify that the cloud environment can run OCP Virtualization.
The tests should provide a clear indication whether the environment is compatible (certified) or not, and also provide a clear explanation on failures.
RH may need to review the results to give the final certification and document that the cloud is certified.
Important This does not replace the OCP certification. The platform must be OpenShift certified before it can be certified for OpenShift VirtualizationÂ
User Stories
- As a cloud provider that is certified to run OpenShift I would like to get certified to run OpenShift Virtualization as well
- As a cloud provider I would like to easily find the process that is required for the certification
- As a cloud provider I would like to tests to be as automated as possible
- As a cloud provider I would like to be able to define my environment requirements / limitations like minimal disk size so this will not fail the tests
- As a cloud provider I would like to be able to easily understand the results. Any failures should be well documented so I can easily understand them and fix them myself
- As a cloud provider I would like to be able to run this multiple times with different setting to certify multiple components (like nodes) and on different versions.
- As RH we would like to give any cloud provider a package they can run themself with minimal to no assistance from RH side
- As RH we should provide a clear guidance on how often should the cloud provider rerun this test
Non-Requirements
- List of things not included in this epic, to alleviate any doubt raised during the grooming process.
Notes
- How do we track changes to this and when do we require the different clouds to run the latest?
- Should this be only functional tests or also performance and / or scale tests?
