(Must-have) End-to-end DR test of scaled CNV workloads using OADP.
(Must-have) Validated DR runbook for OADP on scaled CNV is documented.
(Should-have) KPI (e.g., observed recovery times) for CNV DR at scale are documented.
(Should-have) Any identified limitations/bottlenecks of OADP are reported.
(Could-have) A DR test scenario incorporating a specifically complex or high-demand CNV workload.

      Goal

To validate and establish OADP as a Disaster Recovery solution for OpenShift Virtualization at scale.
This involves testing from a CNV perspective to ensure reliable recovery of virtualized workloads and define clear operational procedures.
The expected outcome is confirmed DR capabilities for CNV environments using OADP.

      User Stories

      • As a Cluster Administrator, I want to implement and verify a scalable DR process using OADP for CNV workloads, so that I can ensure high availability and rapid service restoration for the platform in the event of a site-wide failure.
      • As a Developer, I want assurance that the CNV-hosted services I depend on can be reliably recovered using OADP in a disaster scenario, so that I can trust in the platform's resilience and minimize disruption to my applications.

      Non-Requirements

      • Defining specific RTO/RPO (Recovery Time Objective/Recovery Point Objective) targets; this Epic will focus on testing capabilities against pre-defined targets.
      • Implementing automated DR failover/failback orchestration that extends beyond the inherent capabilities of OADP.
      • Addressing DR for any workloads other than CNV workloads.
      • Selection or procurement of new backup storage infrastructure; existing lab storage will be utilized.
      • Utilization of public cloud provider infrastructure for DR testing; all testing will be conducted using the internal scale lab infrastructure.

      Notes

      • Initial testing of OADP for basic VM backup/restore has been done, but this Epic focuses on comprehensive DR validation from a CNV perspective at scale.
